MACKINAW WOOL JAC-SHIRT
The original Jac shirt, introduced to the range some fifty years ago, has served more outdoorsmen in a wide variety of conditions than you can even count. This limited edition version of this icon is made from our thickest and warmest Mackinaw wool for reliable warmth and protection in colder weather.
The 100% virgin Mackinaw wool features a unique and complex fiber structure that wicks moisture to the top of each fiber for evaporation. This natural moisture wicking has yet to be replicated by any fabric developed in laboratories, and is the primary reason why wool has been the fabric of choice for foul weather protection for centuries. In fact, our Mackinaw Wool Jac-Shirt can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water without feeling damp or clammy.
Only the longest and strongest fleece fibers are selected in the production of our Mackinaw Wool. They are spun into dense, strong yarns that are tightly woven in a twill pattern. This creates a fabric that is highly water repellent, repels cold winds, and at the same time is superbly breathable. This exceptional fabric wears like iron - we often receive reports that our Mackinaw wool coats will be passed down to the next generation.
At the Seattle mill, Mackinaw wool, which has protected lumberjacks and foresters in the forests of the Pacific Northwest from cold, rainy weather for over a century, has been combined with the easy-to-wear, versatile utility of a heavyweight shirt. The classic button placket and adjustable cuffs make it easy to adjust for ideal ventilation depending on exertion. Front flap pockets keep essentials close at hand and are secured with hidden buttons to keep them from snagging on gear.
