Spezifikationen
Pike Brothers 1937 Roamer Elephant Skin Vest Black
- 1937 Roamer Vest Elephant Skin black
- 100% organic cotton, 520 grams per square meter
- 3 front pockets
- Buttons made of real ivory nut
- Heavy bar tacking on pockets and seam
New working methods and machines demanded everything from the workers. Likewise the workwear and the fabrics that were used for it. Particularly in heavy industry, fabrics such as our "Elephant Skin" were used more extensively because the fabric was extremely abrasion resistant, resilient and even able to withstand welding sparks. Hence the name of our substance. A substance which is just as durable and supple as an elephant skin.
Our black "Elephant Skin" is woven today as it was then by a German weaving mill according to ancient tradition and achieves a basis weight of 520 grams. The robust secret of our "Elephant Skin" lies in the high weft density and the twine used as a warp thread.
Over time, the fabric evolves, though made of 100% cotton, like leather. It is therefore greasy and shiny in high stress areas. This also led to the name "Elephant Skin"
