Classic Beaufort Wax Jacket
Originally introduced in 1983, the Beaufort Jacket holds a special place as one of Barbour's most treasured waxed jacket designs. Designed by Margaret Barbour herself, its creation was a matter of the heart. Inspired by the elegance of French shooting jackets, the Beaufort has a distinctive character. It presents a slightly shorter length compared to conventional jackets, while showcasing a generously sized back pocket lined with easy-to-clean nylon.
The interior of the jacket is equally expressive and features a 100% cotton lining, decorated with the iconic Barbour tartan pattern. This lining not only adds a traditional touch, but also emphasises the brand's enduring heritage. The practicality of the jacket is further enhanced by a two-way zip, meticulously designed for compatibility with an optional lining. Super thoughtful and practical when extra warmth is desired to ensure the wearer's comfort in colder times.
- Wax for Life
With good care, a waxed jacket, as well as all waxed cotton accessories, can be a faithful companion for years. Regular waxing not only helps to keep out the rain, but also to repair any signs of wear. You need:
- Barbour Wax Thornproof Dressing
- Bowl of hot water
- Sponge
Clean: Clean your jacket with a damp sponge. Please do not use warm water or soap and never wash your wax jacket in the washing machine. This would cause the jacket to lose its wax layer and cannot be re-waxed.
- Heat the wax: Use Barbour Wax Thornproof Dressing to re-wax. Remove the lid and place the tin in a container of hot water. It will take about 20 minutes for the wax to take on a liquid consistency.
- Work the wax in: During the waxing process, you should leave the wax tin in the container with warm water. If the wax hardens again in the meantime, add a little hot water. Use a cloth or sponge to re-wax and work the wax evenly into your jacket.
- Drying: Leave the jacket to dry overnight in a warm place. Make sure it does not come into contact with other clothing. Also note that the jacket will still lose excess wax. So make sure that your freshly waxed jacket does not come into contact with leather or upholstered furniture.
- Regularly: We recommend that you wax your waxed jacket once a year (depending on use). This will prolong the life of your jacket and make it a long-lasting companion for all your adventures.
