Japanese denim mills are known for their remarkable ability to recreate denim from bygone eras. This denim is a faithful reproduction of denim from the gold mining era found in an abandoned mine on the west coast of the USA, with origins dating back to the late 19th century. True to the standards of its time, the denim has a rustic texture characterized by long, irregular yarn thickenings and a deep, pure indigo tone. As the denim ages, the slubs contribute to irregular vertical stripes and a characteristic salt and pepper grain. In areas where wear occurs, the white core of the yarns emerges, creating a contrasting highlight against the deep indigo tones that have been preserved.
